Stock Picking

Sunday, July 4th, 2010

Welcome to the Stock Tips website about stock picking. You are probably here because you want a bit of guidance about how to improve your stock picking skills. I will be running through different techniques of how to do that and the methods that I use. I will also cover a lot more.

I want to cover a lot of things about investing and not just stock picking. I want to talk about asset allocation, fundamental and technical analysis, general market commentary, commodities and much more.

As you can see I have a lot to say and there is a reason for it. I have to admit that I have been a bit lazy over the last year with my stock picking and investing in general. One of the reasons for that was that I missed the bottom of the bear market.

Before I knew it, those stocks that were on my stock picking list were above the price that I wanted to pay. I thought I would get another opportunity but I didn’t and they raced away. I would’ve (like most of you) made an absolute killing. I have learned from this experience.

So why the website and why am I interested again. Firstly my girlfriend and I are expecting our first child, I have gone part time at work (from full time) to concentrate on setting up my own business. This means money is tight and I have to plan for the future better.

Secondly, the market is falling again. I want to be ready and know the prices where I buy the stocks that I want. I don’t want to miss that opportunity again.

Before finishing my opening post on my brand new website I wanted to say something my stocking picking technique and the price that I would want to execute.

When I said earlier that the stocks were above the price that I wanted to pay I didn’t think they were expensive. In fact I thought they were cheap still but I like a huge margin of safety. I want to be confident that if I am wrong then I am not going to lose a lot.

This is your classic margin of safety approach that a lot of stock picking techniques use.

Until next time.
